A new chapter for Plan C

We’re entering an exciting new chapter at Plan C.

Founder and Board Chair Jean Renouf is welcoming Sam Refshauge into the role of Managing Director, marking an important leadership transition as the organisation continues to grow and evolve.

Since founding Plan C, Jean has played a significant role in strengthening community resilience across the Northern Rivers and beyond. Through partnerships, training programs, research, advocacy and grassroots initiatives, Plan C has supported communities to prepare for, respond to and recover from disasters while building stronger local networks and leadership.

Jean will continue to play an active role as Chair of the Board, supporting Sam and the team to ensure continuity, shared learning and a smooth transition that reflects Plan C’s collaborative values.

Sam brings extensive experience in community building, strategy and systems leadership, and will guide Plan C through its next stage of development, strengthening partnerships and supporting community-led initiatives while staying grounded in the organisation’s mission and values.

“This transition reflects the strength of our community and the collective work that has brought us to this point,” said Jean Renouf.

“I’m excited to see Sam lead Plan C into its next chapter and continue building the relationships and initiatives that make a real difference.”

Sam said it was a privilege to step into the role at such an important time.

“Plan C has been doing ground-breaking work in the region and for the sector for many years, building an incredible network of people committed to strengthening resilience and connection in communities.

I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to build on this legacy and look forward to working alongside our partners and communities as we explore new ideas and support practical, locally-led solutions.”

We are also beginning our next strategic planning process, and we’d love community members, partners and stakeholders to be part of shaping Plan C’s future direction.

This leadership transition reflects Plan C’s commitment to shared leadership, sustainable impact and building strong communities ready for the challenges and opportunities ahead.

Sam feels supported by Jen, Jean, Rena and Carly
