Building on the positive feedback and learnings from our 2025 pilot Psychological First Aid for PCYC Emergency Services Cadets in the Hervey Bay region, the PCYC was looking for opportunities to:

• strengthen Adult Leaders’ knowledge and skills in providing Psychological First Aid to cadets during times of training and activation

• strengthen Adult Leaders’ knowledge and understanding of autism and neurodiversity to facilitate an inclusive environment that enables greater outcomes for neurodiverse cadets whilst also improving the environment for all

• co-design resources and facilitation guidelines that will integrate Psychological First Aid into the PCYC curriculum, where appropriate

• continue to deliver PFA for young people in PCYC ESC units across the state

Since the project started the Plan C team has been working closely with PCYC by:

• delivering a one-day PFA for Unit Leaders and Resource Co-design workshops in Beenleigh, Toowoomba and Hervey Bay as part of a professional development weekend

• co-delivering a Youth PFA workshop to 25 Emergency Services Cadets from Oxley and Brisbane-area cadet units

• collaboratively designing a Facilitator Training Course so PCYC Emergency Service Cadet Leaders can deliver the youth PFA course to their cadets, building capacity and sustainability into the organisation

• designed on-line facilitator training modules for future Plan C facilitators
