Plan C’s 2026-2029 strategy
September 2026: Over the past several months, we’ve been asking some big questions about Plan C’s future. What have we learned from the work so far? What do communities need from us now? Where can Plan C make the most meaningful contribution over the next three years?
Importantly, we didn’t want to answer those questions alone.
Our strategic planning process has included conversations with community members, program participants, partners, funders, government, resilience organisations, our team and Board, along with the generous contributions of everyone who completed our strategy survey or joined us for workshops and conversations. And from each of these connections we learned a lot.
You told us that you value Plan C for our deep listening, place-based co-design, community connection and ability to translate complex challenges into practical, trusted action.
You told us that we could improve our sustainability beyond grant cycles, clarity of role in the ecosystem, and ongoing support network so training leads to lasting change.
You identified the biggest opportunities for Plan C as deepening our learning pathways and partnerships, strengthening collaboration, and continuing to expand on resilience and regeneration from a practical, emotional and social approach.
Thank you to everyone who shared your experiences, challenged our thinking and helped us imagine what might be possible.
Our vision is still clear: Australian communities that are resilient and regenerative. To get there, with your guidance, we've set out eight outcomes for the next three years - From becoming a trusted sense-maker and communicator, to translating expertise into practical action, from supporting a healthy network of people to sustaining ourselves through diverse funding. Two ideas sit at the centre of this plan: the Plan C Way, our philosophy of relational, human-centred, community-led practice, and the Plan C Learning Commons, a living network, not a static curriculum, where communities, facilitators, and partners can learn from and with one another. We're grateful to be building this with you, and we can't wait to bring it to life together.
We’re now very excited to share Plan C’s 2026–2029 Strategy, which sets out where we’re heading and the work we believe will help us get there.
