Northern Rivers Community Alliance

Big win for community-led resilience in the Northern Rivers

We’re excited to share that the Northern Rivers Community Resilience Alliance has received multi-year funding through the Disaster Ready Fund Round 3. Plan C was closely involved in developing the successful proposal, and we’re thrilled to see this support heading directly to the grassroots.

This funding will strengthen the work of more than 60 volunteer-led resilience groups across our region. The focus is on what helps groups thrive over the long term — practical coordination, simple systems, strong governance, and shared tools that reduce duplication and make the work easier for volunteers.

It’s an important investment in the behind-the-scenes structures that allow community-led resilience to grow, scale and endure. A real step forward for the Alliance and for the Northern Rivers.

We’ll share more about what this means for local groups early in the new year.

A beautiful moment of connection at the Alliance gathering

Jen and Carly recently joined the Alliance gathering in Bangalow and were genuinely moved to meet so many of you in person. It was wonderful to hear how many groups have taken part in our training or been supported by Plan C’s work.

One of the most memorable moments came at the end of the day, when everyone contributed to a messy, colourful web made of wool. What began as a playful activity quickly became a powerful symbol — a network that looked chaotic at first glance but revealed itself to be surprisingly strong. It captured exactly what community-led resilience looks like in the Northern Rivers: diverse, interconnected, a little messy at times, and incredibly strong when we’re woven together.
