Coming together across the Northern Rivers

Last week, Sam and Rena joined grassroots resilience groups from across the region for the Northern Rivers Community Resilience Alliance Gathering at Ballina Beach Nature Resort.

Across two days, people shared what’s working, what they’re learning and where the challenges remain, while strengthening relationships across the network that has been growing since 2022.

By all accounts, it was a deeply connecting couple of days and a good reminder that resilience isn’t only about plans, equipment or what happens during an emergency. It’s also about the relationships we build beforehand, and how we navigate things when those relationships become difficult.

As part of the gathering, Sam and Rena shared some of Plan C’s approaches to working with conflict in communities, which were really well received. We know that disagreement and conflict are a natural part of community life, particularly when people are navigating stress, uncertainty and different perspectives.

If this is something your community or group would be interested in exploring, we’d love to hear from you. Get in touch and we can have a conversation about what might be useful: hello@planc.org.au
