It’s Youth Week

It's  Youth Week and that feels like a good time to pause and recognise the young people we get to work alongside.

Through Surviving Disasters, we see young people step into big conversations about risk, uncertainty and what it actually means to look after ourselves and each other in difficult scenarios.

They build shelters in the bush, practice first aid and emergency communication, work through real-life scenarios, and have honest conversations about fear, responsibility and community.  More than anything though, the young participants show up with curiosity, a willingness to learn skills that matter and we have so many laughs along the way!

A big shout out as well to the young people we work with through our partnership with the PCYC Queensland Emergency Services Cadets, a group already stepping into leadership, service and community readiness in a really tangible way. Their maturity, teamwork and care for others shines through in this video they made about their experience with Plan C.

There’s a lot said about young people “being the future”, but what we see is that they are here right now, building skills, relationships and confidence that make communities stronger.

We feel very lucky to be part of that.

There is a lot going on during youth week, so check your local council's website for events. One local event for young change makers that caught our eye was this:

Have fun, stay safe and get in touch if our youth training interests you in any way!
