In October, Plan C partnered with the Hunter Community Alliance and the Ned Foundation for a day of learning, reflection and practical planning.
Facilitated by Plan C founder Dr Jean Renouf, the workshop brought together people from across the Hunter region to explore the challenges of a changing climate and what they could do locally to prepare.
Participants considered risks facing Newcastle, Lake Macquarie and Maitland, before working through practical actions for households, neighbourhoods and community organisations. Conversations covered everything from emergency planning and communication to food, water, energy security and supporting vulnerable neighbours.
What stood out was the determination of those involved. Despite recognising the scale of the challenges ahead, participants brought energy, experience and a shared commitment to strengthening their communities.
A big thank you to the Hunter Community Alliance, the Ned Foundation and everyone who made the day possible.
